Greater lafayette protestors say they're going to keep protesting as long as racial-inequality continues.

This afternoon, hundreds gathered outside the tippecanoe county courthouse.

Organizers say they just want to be heard.

News 18's micah upshaw shares their message.

S: when you're raising black children, you have to look in their eyes and someday explain to them why a person doesn't like you or why these friends are picking on you for no reason, and i don't want my daughter to have to feel that way.

M: protestors say these gatherings are a fight for the future.

That's why it was important young people have a voice.

A: we were down here monday night when there were some kids being tear- gassed and pepper sprayed and some of the adults in the community felt it was important to have an event where we really gave kids an opportunity to speak.

M: and that's what happened.

Event coordinators brought a microphone and let the people lead the conversations.

Nat: girl talking.

Nat: boy talking.

K: i really hope us teen activists can just show up and show out and just do it better than our ancestors.

M: while this protest was centered on young voices, people of all ages, races, and genders came to support one message.

Unity.

T: anybody who's trying to say this is a new thing, it's not.

Michael brown happened in 2014, rodney king happened in the 90s and no matter what even though i was so hateful, i switched and i am with -- i will always think i'm on the right side of history right now.

M: monday will mark two weeks since george floyd was killed by a minneapolis police officer.

The act has sparked outrage and unrest internationally.

Protestors believe this is what it takes to see change.

P: hopefully with all this going on in our world, and all these 18 countries, states, you know, i feel like we made it big like its biggest in history.

M: in lafayette, micah upshaw.
