Mercer medicine along with depaul usa's daybreak day provided free testing for the homeless.

Pitts: it has been going on really well, it has been very organized, in fact, when we arrived there were already people here, daybreak staff have worked with their population staff to get people here.

Miller: we want to make sure we reach out to everyone, we don't want them to feel like they are not apart of the community because they are a tremendous part of our community and they need to know that they do matter.

Non of us could have done this by ourselves and it is such a blessing because the homeless coalition identified this as a need.

Director sister theresa sullivan says the event has helped more people at daybreak know their status who are limited to assistance and resources.

Sullivan: it's critical for all of us, to be able to have these services but particularly with our brothers and sisters who are homeless because they live so close together, we've been working really hard to educate people about covid and try to prevent
