5th straight night in Terre Haute for peaceful protests

Protesters are wanting to stay peaceful in Terre Haute, but still, have their voices heard.

Protests continue across the country tonight....and right here in the wabash valley.

Tonight a group of people stood outside the vigo county courthouse.

But -- for a different reason.

News 10's sarah lehman is live at the courthouse right now.

She has more on what's going on.

Patrece...rondrell... this is now the 5th day that some thing has been going on in front of the vigo county court house.

*describe scene* it seems like every day -- they are asking for it to remain peaceful earlier -- this group of people was holding a candelight vigil.

That's to remember not only george floyd.

The man killed in minneapolis.

But to remember black people across the country who have been killed.

Protesters and police officers both want this to continue to be peaceful.

Earlier i talked with a mother from terre haute.

She says she's protesting because of her son.

She says she's scared for her children and wants to leave the world better for them.

"it's just im tired.

I'm tired.

And tha's why people are fighting.

They're tired.

They want to be free they want to be fair.

/// this is about loving each other.

Not fighing not hating."

*talk about scene more* protesters here say they are going to be out in some capacity every day.

They say they want people to remember what is still going on in the world.

Reporting live in terre haute.
