Drivers stranded by flash floods after heavy rain in Thailand

Cars were partially submerged in flash floods following a tropical rainstorm in Samut Prakan, Thailand, this morning.

The deluge battered the province just south of Bangkok for several hours.

Drains were blocked by the torrents or rain water, causing flash floods on the roads.

Footage shows how the water was around a metre deep in some places, making it impossible to drive through and leaving motorists starnded.

The country has been battered by tropical storms for several weeks as it moves into its hottest part of the year followed by the lengthy monsoon rainy season, which sees powerful downpours of rain and storms.
