More than 17 dead and more than 7,000 victims left by storm Amanda in El Salvador

At least 15 dead, seven missing, and more than 7,000 people are sheltered in different parts of San Salvador, El Salvador, from storm Amanda.

More than 1,000 damaged houses were left after the heavy rain on Monday (June 1).

In the Nueva IsraƩl community, several houses of low-income people on the banks of the Acelhuate river, in the capital city, have fallen into the ravine due to the intensity of the water flow, which in the early morning hours of Sunday significantly increased its flow.

Although with less intensity, the rains caused by storm Amanda remain on Salvadoran territory.
