And as action news now reporter mazkenzie drigo shows us, the move could be life-saving for local addicts hoping for a new lease on life.
Sot stacy goodrich- warehouse sorter 4 seconds "i feel like i have a recovery family, they're definitely as close as my family really," stacy goodrich graduated from the salvation armys' george walker adult rehabilitation center 11 months ago.
"and then i was blessed enough to get a job here so it helps me stay connected and stay connected in recovery especially with this covid," goodrich works with salvation army major ray yant- he's the adminitrator at the center.
Yant says there are 50 beds in the center- 30 for men and 20 for woman.
"do you have a full house?
No its not full today because people have left and we have not opened our doors yet expect this past week," broll over "we're holding everything in house on lockdown, we have meetings all the time here but instead of them being able to go to some of the aa meeting an meetings we've closed that done and basically have done it our self in house," yant says they have 6 thrift stores currently- in august they'll open a 7th.
Nat "all of our stores have been closed because of the virus which has really hurt us financially because that was the sole income" broll over this of the warehouse "people don't realize this program even though its free for the individuals and costs us about $1500 per beneficiary per month- the sole income that we have for this is the items that we have in our thrift stores," nat yant says they have been selling things online to help and will be having a yard sale this weekend.
Standup all of these items next to me like clothing and household items will be at the yard sale on saturday.
"were looking for alternatives so we can continue to keep our doors open," yant say the yard sale will be from 7am to noon.
