PPE shortages are impacting all parts of the medical field

The coronavirus pandemic continues to impact our every day lives... and that's even more true for people in the medical field.

Kimt news 3's nick kruszalnicki checked in with a local oral surgeon to see how they're doing business now.

Nick?

Live amy?

When you first pull up to north iowa oral surgery the first thing you will see are these signs, telling you to stay in your car and call the office.

Your car is now the waiting room.

But the changes don't stop there.

Everyone entering the building?

Even me?

Goes through a temperature check and health questionaire.

For the staff, they're covered head to toe in ??e, even wearing a surgical mask over top of their ?95 masks.

Doctor lyell hogg told me it has been very difficult to get a hold of those ?95 masks and they are doing their for dentists its been very difficult and as an oral surgeon it's been difficult to obtain those and so we're trying to preserve those for probably beyond their life span.

In fact?

Doctor hogg says they are running through so much ??e and are having such a hard time getting more there could be a point where they may have to shut down again.

Live in mason city, nick kruszalnicki, kimt news 3./// thanks nick.
