Space debris re-entering atmosphere lights up night sky above southeast Australia

Debris from space re-entering the atmosphere has lit up the skyline above Victoria, southeast Australia on May 22.

The stunning footage filmed by Brad McDonald shows the fireball of debris shoot across the Bendigo sky much like a meteor would.

According to reports, astronomers suspect the debris was the spent rocket stage from the Russian Soyuz-2-1b satellite that was sent into space earlier today.
