Caused the shutdown of stores and businesses....it also cut off the flow of crucial sales tax dollars.

The city of utica today shared with the public a list of cuts and adjustments they've had to make in order to accomodate that loss.

Palmieri the city of utica is making cuts to deal with what the coronavirus has taken from it..

Among them....the temporary elimination of 80% of its part time workforce....a 75% reduction of capital projects....voluntar y furlough of full time em ployees and early retirement incentive.

None when businesses shut down to stop the spread of the coronavirus, it stopped the flow of money into cash registers and then into municipal coffers via sales tax 3:22 "the sales tax which represents multi million dollars is affected roughly down 27%" that's just for the month of march.

For the year, they're looking at about a 15% reduction.

Some capital projects won't happen 4:47 "there were some dump trucks that were not put through, plows, building conditions, we're gonna try and do it within without spending millions of dollars.

Members of the common council reduced the paving so that'll be less this year" so far, no full time employees are affected.

But no one knows what the rest of the year will bring 6:35 "in the event that the governor changes his budget.

Those entities make up the vast majority....up to 3/4 of the city's budget.
