School districts look to furlough days to save money
News school districts in our area are turning to furlough days to help save money during the coronavirus pandemic.
Kezi 9 news reporter evita garza shows us why some teachers believe furlough days won't disrupt learning right now.

Right now, the state is looking to cut 8.5 percent of its budget across the board.
Since many schools rely on state funding& school districts like springfield public schools and lebanon school district are left with making their own cuts.
Phoner: and for springfield public schools, that is the equivalent to 11.7 million dollars that we would need to reduce our budget?
Both districts have looked into using furlough days for the rest of the school year.
The lebanon school board already voted on using a furlough day every thursday and friday.
While springfield will be voting on the idea tonight.
Anne goff is the president of the springfield education association.
She says furlough days will benefit in the long run.?districts are all so different, but they all have to look at what is best for them right now?

Compared to the disruption for next year when wee back in class with kids all day long, it a positive trade off for students?
When it comes to the paycheck& goff says teachers in the springfield school district will be eligible for unemployement& even though theye working less time.
In a letter from the superintendent of the lebanon school distrct& their teachers will have the same option too.
