Numbers-- another the rise in claims comes as some businesses get back to work-- but in many cases with reduced staffs-- as lay-offs continue across the country and the tristate--due to covid-19 let's go now to our very own megan diventi-- she's live in newburgh with a look at the local impact brian- the department of labor is reporting 2.9 million workers filed for unemployment last week alone.

Many of those workersre from here in the tri-state.

Here at nellie owners tell me although they are slowly reopening back up employees were encouraged at the beginning of this pandemic to file for unemployment.

Other local businesses like smitty's in downtown evansville also furloughed people during this time.

The department of labor is reporting more than 30 thousand people filed for unemployment last week in the hoosier state.

Over in the bluegrass-more than 60 thousand people filed last week.

In illinois exceeding more than 70 thousand.

That a lot of people....that what i hoping?

I'm told by several local owners now that they are reopening dining rooms employees are coming back.
