Tropical storms cause flash floods in Pattaya, Thailand

A tropical downpour caused flash floods on roads in Pattaya, eastern Thailand, today (May 14).

Motorists and pedestrians had to battle through the deluge which left some parts submerged in knee-deep water.

The downpours caused heavy traffic and gridlock around the city.

Tropical storms have been sweeping Thailand for the last few weeks as the country enters its scorching summer season with temperatures reaching 42C.

The strong winds and heavy rain, which are forecast to continue throughout May, causes havoc with the country's ageing infrastructure.
