Off your animals as we look tows reopening and the future of air travel, newswatch 12's alicia rubin spoke with the airport today about what we can expect.

The medford airport partnered with soredi and the jackson county chamber to send out a business travel survey.

Looking towards recovery, business travel is crucial and it's always been very valuable to airlines.

Coming out of covid-19 airlines could be looking to make cuts.

And that could mean that some smaller airports lose routes.

This survey will allow our local airport to identify valuable routes and will help them form presentations to convince airlines that they should continue to fly to medford.

"our passenger traffic like the rest of the country is down significantly we have to be prepared to present a case for why an airline might want to keep service here versus shift it to another area or pull out altogether" jason says this is all prep work to make this is all prep jason says this is all prep work to make sure that if airlines do approach medford that our airport is prepared to fight to keep our current routes and maybe even get new routes after demand returns.

While travel demand is critically low right now because of covid-19 travel restrictions, medford's airport was having yet another record setting year before the virus.

Coming up tonight on newswatch 12 -- i'll show you the numbers coming through t-s-a and why the rogue valley international medford airport says they're optimistic about the future.

Reporting live from home, alicia
