Community food banks continue to use their efforts to fullfill the needs of people.second harvest is one of those food banks that has been going above and beyond to ensure that no one goes hungry.

Thank you alan - since 11 am, second harvest has been hosting the 'fill the van' at sam's club.

They are accepting non-perishable food items and they can be donated in the second harvest van right behind me.

Shoppers today have been donating hundreds of food items to second harvest.(nat sound....) donating is important now more than ever before.second harvest's 'fill the van' food drive is recognizing the needs of the community and using their efforts to fulfill it right away.chad higdon ceo: "the most needed itmes right now are the shelf-stable products that are easy to package and distribute at our distribution sites."more families are calling second harvest asking them how they can receive help.more cars are showing up to the mobile distribution sites.chad higdon, ceo: "right now, more than ever, we know that there is a need and we are trying to can."volunteers are much as they can as well...kim peters, volunteer: "when second harvest says that they need help, i try to go and try to help out whenever we can."even she is using this time to show her kids what it's like to give back to the community... kim peters, volunteer: "i though it'd be a good thing to bring my kids here today to show them that volunteering is good.">>> second harvest is accepting food donations until 7 pm so there is still some time to come out and donate.
