They're showing symptoms. a fort wayne city councilman is looking to help restaurants and hotels hurting from the pandemic...writing a resolution to use some tax money... to create grants or loans for those businesses.fox 55's chris mullooly joins us live outside citizens square.

Chris..

What tax would this come from??hunter... its from the fort wayne food and beverage tax fund.councilman jason arp is looking to the capital improvement board to re-distrubte some of the tax revenue.as many businesses who contribute to it...remain close.

"allen county capital imprvement board to invest resources in hospitality industry in fort wayne"it was read to city council..

By the same man who drafted the resolution.councilman jason arp says its to lift some burden off the restaraunt and hospitality industry.if nothing else the idea that somebody in city gov cares aout you and wants to helpthe resolution asks the allen county fort wayne capital improvement board to look into ways to divert money into grants or loans for those businesses.that was the idea to try and find a way to find some relief when we canthe problem with that..

Is city council doesn't have that authority.council doesnt have authority to pull a lever to turn off or redirect those fundsthe c-i-b isn't under the city..

It is its own entity.a statement from fort wayne mayor tom henry's office says quote it doesn't fall under the jurisdiction of city council'...and goes on to say he and officials organizations are working to find resources and services available..

Because if notwe may have some substantial reduction so we'll have to decide where that goes some projects coming up... may not be possible.what happens to some of those comm.

Or eceonomic development projects is yet to be seen it'll be interesting to see tax revenues come in next month
