Brindisi says state needs funding

Congressman Anthony Brindisi says states and localities need funding as soon as possible before they are forced to make difficult decisions about cuts.

While on recess, continues to map out the rescue of local and state governments, healthcare systems and small business.

Congressman anthony brindisi spoke to us via facetime, from his utica home, this morning.

He's still conferencing with his congressional colleagues, about things like rescue and stimulus packages for hospitals, state and local government.

While hospitals are very busy taking care of coronavirus patients, they've had to halt all non- emergency surgeries.

Basically-halt their paycheck.

5:08 "it's a tough situation now for all of our hospitals across the state and in the area.

They are literally bleeding money right now because they have no revenue coming in.

They've had to cancel all non-urgent surgeries so what they've had to do is focus entirely on the pandemic which is what they should be doing.

However, if they don't get an infusion of cash from the federal government to keep their doors open, what we're gonna start seeing in the next few weeks is having to cut back on staff, having to cut back on salaries congressman brindisi also talked about the need to help state and local governments recover, financially, from the pandemic.....because if they're forced to do it on their own, many of us won't like how they have to do that.

4:13 "new york itself is facing a $10 billion budget hole because of this pandemic.

If they're forced to close that hole on their own, they're gonna cut things like education and infrastructure and healthcare and aid to localities so we've got to get some funding to our state" let's get a first
