In our area.

This morning madison county students are officially heading back to school-- but not leaving the house.

While school sessions started yesterday, the curriculum itself begins today.

Waay 31's rodneya ross is live outside madison county schools central office with what students have to say about online learning.

Instead of going to the classroom and seeing their teacher students are now using computers to complete their work and they tell us it's actually more challenging.

Nearly 20-thousand students will finish the rest of the school year online after coronavirus forces schools to close.

We talked to two students who told us the work isn't necessarily hard but it's different and that's what makes it a challenge.

Anthony harbin - sophomore at hazel green high school "it's less pressure to finish it, than it would be in school, so it feels like it's more about learning, than the grade" about 70 percent of students in the district are using the online program.

The other 30 percent are using hard copy packets provided by their school.

The last day of school will be may 22nd.
