California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers say an Oroville man and two children were killed after a truck crashed into the Thermalito Canal Sunday night.
Was arrested after the chp says he crashed his truck - killing a father and his two kids.
Action news now reporter vanessa romo joins us in studio - she spoke with officers about the crash and what neighbors are calling a problematic road.
This is one of the signs on grand avenue ---- 500 ft away from where the crash happened... but residents in the area say the city of oroville needs to do more to possibly prevent another crash... the chp says last night colby brookman was driving drunk and speeding when he lost control of his pickup, off of grand avenue... and it ended up in the canal.
Brookman and a woman in the front seat made it out -- a man in the back seat along with a one year old and a seven month old were trapped... and did not survive.
We checked - this is only one of many car crashes that happened in the same area... there's fault with people who make the road and there's fault with people who drive on top of it and again if you go back to just paying attention and if you drive a safe speed, you can avoid instances like this.
Be sober, that's another one there are also signs at the end of the road that say caution, do not enter and stop.
The name of the father and his kids have yet to be released.
But the chp tells me the family was from sacramento.

The chp told me late this afternoon..
That brookman is being treated at oroville hospital for injuries he received in the crash..
And remains in c-h-p custody.
