And with Broadway lights now dimmed, many of its stars are demonstrating their talents online

Happiness comes in the form of backyard karaoke for his friends - and online fans - to hear.

Frank sinatra's iconic hit is just one of the songs frank canzoneri has been belting out from the comfort and shade of his own backyard.

"music is ... i lightens up the soul."

And it's been lightening his soul for decades&.

Going back to the time when he used to perform around buffalo, new york.

"i never gave it thought.

I just sang primarily for the fun.

But then after people said, 'hey, you have a really good voice.

You oughta try doing this, that, and the other thing."

So now, stay-at-home orders seem to be the perfect time for him to put on a show again.

He has been singing one or two songs a day from his patio& and he plans to do it all throughout the month of april.

His wife has been putting the videos up on facebook.

"i said, 'if anybod has a request....'

Well, i'm sorry i said that .

I'm getting all kinds of requests!

And at least one neighbor gets to watch in person& a safe distance away, of course.

And he hopes the music inspires his friends in more ways than one.

"i'd like to se everyone -- they enjoy the music or not -- say a pray for everyone in this country."

Half the world's population is now under orders to stay home.

And some are using the quarantine to show off their talents-- to a global audience.

And one of the things we know how to do is share our gifts and try to spread a little joy and lift up some hearts."

Jessie mueller - whose show the minutes closed days before opening night - won a tony award playing the role of carole king.

And let's-- let's remind the world that-- that we're-- we're in this together."

Eighty previous cast members and musicians from "beautiful productions all over the globe are featured in this performance to benefit the actor's fund.

"this is why w were put on the planet, to connect people."

Tony award winner brian stokes mitchell - who is now recovering from covid 19 - heads up the non- profit, which helps support actors and many others in need.

"it's the camer people, it's the writers, it's the-- the producers on the show.

It's the grips and the gaffers and the sound people // we are all kind of gig workers."

Workers in entertainment who - like so many people around the globe - find themselves wondering what tomorrow will bring.

And during this difficult time, a worldwide community of artists - professional and amateur - is stepping forward.

The new york philharmonic& a mariachi band & "hi& and producer james wesley and his husband, musician seth rudetsky, launched a webcast.

"stars in th house" stream live twice a day and features performances from broadway's biggest stars.

I'm there too as a medical consultant& "welcome dr. jo lapook."

But - on occasion get to wear a different hat& "luck be a lad tonight", end wit kristin singing "luck be a lad tonight" tony winner laura benanti launched #sunshinesongs to provide a stage for high school students whose shows were cancelled.

She's received thousands of videos.
