Hamilton County is offering students for meals 3 times a week.

Orchard Knob Elem.

Is one of the community locations.

See how it works in this week's look at What's Right With Our Schools.

Are out of school.

The school is one location where hamilton county kids up to the age of 18 can pick up food three times a week.

It's one more way to make sure the kids are eating, while they are out of class.

News 12's david moore has another example of what's right with our schools.

Natural sound: hello everybody.

She is going to get more packets.

Lafrederick: of course orchard knob middle is delighted to be a site for the lunch pick up.

We've seen over 150 lunch is being provided to students and families as they come through and receive the lunches.

Natural sound: how are you doing young man?

Good to see you both.

Hold tight it is heavy.

Denise: it really does help because i am on disability with very limited income.

And i am raising my grandson's.

And then i've got my granddaughters to because my daughter works.

And so it really helps us.

Natural sound: some of these kids depends on these meals.

Lafrederick: we think of it as a school and a community service that is being provided through hamilton county.

And i think it's a wonderful idea to think about students who may depend on the food from schools during this time; that they don't have access to the building.

Natural sound: they are doing breakfast and lunch for two days.

And we won't be back until wednesday, so let me run in and get one, two, three, four... hello girls!

Lafrederick: our school is a cep school community eligibility program school.

That means that 100% of our students in our school receive free and reduced lunch.

And so far many of those families they depend on this food to help supplement the food that they have available in the house.

A natural sound: here you are buddy.

Where would you be without this program?

Oh well we'd be very hungry.

I'd be lost, i'd be lost.

Natural sound: y'all are doing a good job out here.

Thank you.

Lafrederick: it gives them an opportunity to steal get a chance to get their school lunch and so for them it makes things just a little bit more normal.

They get a chance to come to the school and see some of the cafeteria workers or even see myself or miss brownlee my if you have an idea for a story, go to our website, wdef dot com.
