Massive fire guts Indian residential building after gas cylinder blasts

A huge fire caused by the explosion of gas cylinders tore through a residential building in western India on Friday (January 24th).

The incident occurred in the Kurla West area of Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra.

A video showed flames engulfing the two-storey building and a further explosion.

According to local media reports, the 80–year old building caught fire after several cylinders exploded in a second-floor apartment.

Residents heard a total of four explosions before the building caught fire, according to reports.

Seven fire engines along with two response vehicles and six water tankers were employed to control the situation.
