More Russian troops, Syrian rebels advance into Kurdish territory

Syrian Kurdish militants withdrew from Tel Abyad under a truce brokered by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence last week.

Footage broadcast by Arab 24 showed the Russian vehicles driving through northeast Syria, near the Turkish border.

Turkish-backed rebels say the areas left by Kurdish forces will later be used as "safe zones" for Syrian refugees.
