U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday defended himself against fierce criticism from Republicans and Democrats over his decision to clear U.S. troops out of northern Syria, which has allowed Turkey to attack America's Kurdish allies unimpeded.

(upsound Turkish planes) Over in northern Syria, Turkey began its new offensive in the area… Ankara attacked Kurdish militia positions on Wednesday, pounding them with air strikes and artillery fire just days after the U.S. troop withdrawal… (broll) The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces said that at least five civilians were killed and dozens were injured from the Turkish bombing… Trump called the Turkish assault a quote "bad idea" and did not endorse it... He expected Turkey - which is now responsible for ensuring all ISIS fighters held captive remain in prison - to prevent a humanitarian crisis from happening….
