Temperature soars on London Underground on hottest-ever July day

The London Underground is notorious for being too hot, but temperatures were very high on the service as the UK recorded its hottest-ever July day.

According to data collected by PA, the Bakerloo line, one of the oldest on the network, saw readings of 35C.

Thursday was the second hottest UK day on record, also beating the 37.1C recorded in August 1990, Met Office figures show.

It came close to the hottest-ever day, which was 38.5C recorded on August 10, 2003 in Faversham, Kent.
