Search and rescue efforts will resume Wednesday morning after fast-flowing water swept away a swimmer in the American River.

Whisked away and still missing!

This morning - search and rescue efforts will resume after fast flowing water is being blamed for away a swimmer in the american river.

The placer county sheriff's office says the fast water swept a young man away around 5 p- m.

This is footage from the sheriff's department from the scene.

Deputies arrived in time to see the man in the water yelling for help- but quickly lost sight of him dive teams and helicopters were out for hours yesterday - but called off the search around 9pm.

Now- the sheriff's office is re-issuing water safety warnings.

At this point we are urging anyone to stay away from the rivers they may look calm but in reality you could get towed under so quickly the force of the river at the time?

700 cubic square feet of force per second- search and rescue says that could easily sweep away a full school bus!!
