Mississippi's mental healthcare system, will stand trial today.

The u.s. justice department, sued the state over its mental healthcare system, in 2016.

It says, mississippi breaks the americans with disabilities act, by forcing too many people into state hospitals, rather than providing enough services in the community.

The state is arguing, its system is legal, and the changes the federal government seeks, oversteps its authority.

Lawyers for the state, say mississippi isn't required to offer proper mental healthcare services.
