As trade tensions loom, Donald Trump became the first U.S. President to watch sumo wrestlers grapple in the sport’s homeland of Japan — during Trump’s official state visit.

Capping off the 15-day sumo tournament on Sunday, Trump presented a large trophy to this rising Japanese star: TRUMP: “… I present you with the President’s Cup” This comes after Trump played a round of golf with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe — turning to personal diplomacy during a visit shadowed by tough trade talk.

Trump is unhappy with Japan's large trade surplus and is considering putting high tariffs on its auto exports if a bilateral trade agreement is not reached.

During a dinner Sunday night, Trump said talks with Abe were productive.

Japan has said North Korea’s recent missile launches were a violation of U.N.

Resolutions aimed at halting the country’s nuclear and missile programs. But Trump said on Sunday he was not concerned about them… and that he was confident North Korean leader Kim Jong Un would keep his promises.

Also on Sunday - White House press secretary Sarah Sanders aligned Trump with Kim — saying the two leaders agree on their assessment of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden… who North Korean state media recently called an ‘imbecile’.

Trump tweeted Saturday that he smiled when Kim called quote ’Swampman Joe Biden a low IQ individual and worse.’
