A strong earthquake took Tokyo by surprise on Saturday (May 25) as the city prepared for a four day visit by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake was a Magnitude 5.1 and the epicenter was in the southern part of Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo.

Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are due to play golf on Sunday (May 26) in Chiba.

Buildings in Tokyo shook, but there were no immediate reports of damage or tsunami warnings.
