New Mexico Spa Infects Customers With HIV After Performing 'Vampire Facials'

Two clients of VIP Spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico, contracted HIV after getting "vampire facial" treatments there.

According to Business Insider, vampire facials involve first extracting a person's blood.

After the blood is separated it in a centrifuge, platelet-rich plasma is injected back into the face to reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture.

VIP Spa closed in September 2018, when the health department found the business wasn't licensed and improperly cared for and disposed of needles.
