Thousands Evacuate In Mozambique As Tropical Cyclone Hits

CNN reports thousands of people were evacuated to shelters on Thursday as Tropical Cyclone Kenneth hit northern Mozambique with maximum sustained winds of 220 kph, the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane.

Kenneth arrives a little more than one month after the country was hit by the deadliest and costliest storm in its history, Tropical Cyclone Idai.

Kenneth will bring torrential rainfall and flooding.

More than 20 inches of rain is estimated over the next four days.
