Michael Avenatti Indicted For Financial Fraud

Reuters reports Michael Avenatti has been indicted on charges of defrauding clients and the U.S. government out of millions of dollars.

Avenatti is known for having represented adult film star Stormy Daniels in a case against President Trump.

Three weeks ago, the attorney was arrested in New York on two separate criminal complaints filed by federal prosecutors in New York and California.

Avenatti said he would plead not guilty.

He said, β€œAny claim that any monies due clients were mishandled is bogus nonsense.” Prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney for California’s Central District charged Avenatti with 10 counts of wire fraud.

They accused him of misusing more than $12 million he received on behalf of clients in settlements.
