On Wednesday, the man accused of kidnapping 13-year-old Jayme Closs and killing her parents in Wisconsin pleaded guilty to multiple charges.

CNN reports Jake Patterson cried as he pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of kidnapping.

Near the end of the hearing, Patterson caused a stir by audibly saying, "Bye, Jayme." As part of his plea agreement, one charge of armed robbery was dropped and state prosecutors agreed not to press charges in connection with crimes that occurred during the 88 days Jayme was held against her will.

Patterson's sentencing hearing will be on May 24.

The judge at Wednesday's hearing said Patterson could be facing a maximum sentence of life in prison for homicide and up to 40 years for kidnapping.
