NYT Report Claims Pilots Had Just 40 Seconds To Avoid Disaster In Boeing Tests

According to a report by the New York Times, flight simulations recreating the problems suspected to be responsible for the crash of a Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane last year left pilots with less than 40 seconds to override a malfunctioning system.

CNN reports that Lion Air Flight 610 crashed off the coast of Indonesia last October, killing all 189 people onboard.

Officials in Indonesia believe the failure of a sensor may have triggered an automated software system designed to prevent the plane from stalling.

The Times reportedly said that during recent tests, simulator pilots found they had mere seconds to shit down the system and prevent the plane going into a nosedive, citing two unnamed people involved in the tests.
