Flanked by Angel's owner Arte Moreno and the team's General Manager Billy Eppler, Trout became emotional as he addressed fans.

"It's been a long couple of last two weeks, three weeks.

You know, we got it done... my wife, family ... I love you guys, thanks for all the support ... I'm losing it," said 27-year-old Trout as he struggled to hold back tears.

"And obviously I want to thank the fans.

You guys are ... you guys have been unbelievable and I want to bring the championship back to Anaheim, let's go baby," he added.

Trout, 27, is a two-time American League Most Valuable Player and was scheduled to become a free agent in 2020 before signing this new deal.

The agreement, per ESPN, will tack on 10 years to the final two seasons remaining on Trout's $144.5 million agreement with the Angels.

Trout's deal smashes the massive contract recently signed by outfielder Bryce Harper - 13 years, $330 million with the Philadelphia Phillies - on March 2.

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke currently holds the record for MLB annual average salary at $34.4 million per year.

Trout will eclipse that mark with an average of approximately $36 million per year.

Trout said Los Angeles and the Angels were his home.

"You know, obviously a lot of talk about going back east, back to Philly ... I enjoy every minute being here, this is my home, you know, I love it," he said.

"Making this decision with my wife, it was definitely on my mind that the organization was going in the right direction and obviously (General Manager) Billy (Eppler) wants to win and I think anything you do, baseball, in regards to anything, he wants to be the best and I like that," added Trout.

Angel's General Manager Billy Eppler and owner Arte Moreno both praised Trout for his performance on and off the field.
