Exit Poll Has Thai Opposition Winning Most Seats But Not Enough For Government

According to Reuters, partial results from Sunday’s general election in Thailand showed a pro-military party slightly ahead of the populist party leading a “democratic front." With 89 percent of overall votes counted, the Election Commission reported the pro-military party was leading with 7 million votes.

Thailand has been under direct military rule for nearly five years since the army chief overthrew an elected government linked to exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
