Sixth Mosque Vandalized in Birmingham After Arrest Made in Previous Attacks

A mosque’s windows were smashed in Birmingham, England, overnight from Friday, March 22 to Saturday, March 23, hours after police arrested a man on suspicion of similar attacks on five other mosques in the city on Thursday.Police said they did not believe the new attack, this time on a mosque in Balsall Heath, was linked to the previous five attacks.Perry Barr, a 34-year-old man from Yardley, handed himself into a Birmingham police station on Friday afternoon, claimed responsibility for Thursday’s attacks, and was detained under the Mental Health Act, police said.Police said they were “not seeking anyone else in relation to these five incidents” and “did not believe that he was part of an organised group.”An anti-Islamophobia march was due to take place in Birmingham city center later on March 23, in response to the mosque attacks.
