My Fellow Americans, We Have Failed a Test on Our Own History: Study

A new survey conducted discovered just how little knowledge Americans have of their own history.????The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation conducted the study by providing 20 multiple choice questions in their U.S. Citizenship Exam.????41,000 Americans took the quiz and only about 40% passed nationally !????In a breakdown of the states and Washington, D.C., every state except Vermont failed…????While this was the highest-performing state, only 53 percent of Vermonters passed the test.????Wyoming and South Dakota were the other top scoring states, while Arkansas, Kentucky and Louisiana were the bottom three.????The quiz results revealed that only 15 percent of Americans knew when the Constitution was written.????And sadly for the Foundation, only 43 percent knew that their namesake, Woodrow Wilson served as president during World War I.????The Foundation says their findings illustrate a waning knowledge of America’s history by its citizens, as it found of those under the age of 45, only 27 percent passed the quiz.??

??Following the results, the Foundation decided to launch an educational initiative to help high school students learn history through an interactive digital platform.
