Talks to Avert Shutdown 'Stall' Over Immigrant Detention Policies

According to Reuters, lawmakers’ talks on border security issues to avert another U.S. government shutdown have broken down over immigration detention policies.

Republican Senator Richard Shelby told “Fox News Sunday” that “The talks are stalled right now," and he hopes that negotiators return to the table soon.

One main point has been Democrats’ demands for funding fewer detention beds for people detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, than what the Trump administration seeks.
