Hurricane Florence Flood Victims Turn To Social Media

Huffington Post reports that some residents of the riverfront city of New Bern, North Carolina, who ignored evacuation orders were awaiting rescue early Friday.

They were trapped at their homes by Hurricane Florence’s wind and heavy rains.

The city tweeted that about 150 people were waiting to be rescued.

Watercraft manned by two out-of-state Federal Emergency Management Agency teams, the city fire department, and the volunteer Cajun Navy were assisting in moving stranded people to safety.
