This New Bionic Hand May Revolutionize Future Prosthetics

There is some big news coming out of the world of prosthetics in the shape of this self-learning prosthetic hand.

????The prototype uses machine-learning based control that made movement much more fluid and natural than current technology.

????The new improvement made by scientists at Imperial College London and the University of Göttingen published may spark a “new generation of prosthetic limbs.”????The latest bionic hand interprets a person's intentions using human-machine interface that sends their commands to the limb.

????Electrodes pick up the weak signals from the stump of the person’s arm, amplifies them and sends them to a mini computer in the prosthetic.

????The computer then deciphers the commands using a learning algorithm that then moves the hand in the way the person wants.

????Patients found the new bionic hand easier to use than any others they were used to and said the movements were more natural.

????Researchers say that after the clinical study, they hope to have the advanced prosthetic on the market within three years.
