Trump Reportedly Approves Tariffs on Chinese Goods

President Donald Trump has reportedly approved a 25 percent tariff on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods.  The Washington Post reports  Trump is expected to announce those tariffs on Friday.  The U.S. and China have been going back and forth  about tariffs  for months.

The two countries have threatened to hit the other with tens of billions of dollars worth of tariffs.

Back in April, the Trump administration released an initial list of 1,300 Chinese products that could face tariffs.  CBS News reports  the list of goods expected Friday could be more tailored and may focus more heavily on China's technology sector.  A spokesman for China's foreign ministry said the country  will respond quickly  to protect itself if the U.S. moves ahead with the reported tariffs and hurts China's interests.

Late last month, the Trump administration  announced tariffs  on Chinese imports would be imposed shortly after the finalized list of goods was revealed.  Additional reporting from  Newsy affiliate CNN .
