American Horror Story' Season 8 Will Be 'Murder House'-'Coven' Crossover Ryan Murphy, the series co-creator and showrunner, announced the news via Twitter on Thursday.

(Tweet) According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter,’ the series has been renewed through 2019, and Murphy initially slated a crossover for the ninth season.

‘Murder House’ aired in 2011 and was the landmark season of the horror anthology series, while ‘Coven’ premiered in 2013 and was the third season.

As for what to expect, Murphy said: “It’s not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season.

We’re sort of getting back to Asylum and Coven.

That’s the tone of it.” Veterans Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will have their directorial debut this season, with filming set to begin June 16.

Fans can expect season 8 this September on FX.
