Indonesian authorities have ended the search for any more victims among climbers who were caught by a weekend eruption of the Mount Marapi volcano that killed 23 people and injured several others. About 75 climbers were on the mountain when it erupted Sunday and more than 50 were rescued. Officials had said the discovery of the body of a university student Wednesday raised the confirmed death toll to 23. They ended the search because they believe all the dead have been recovered. Marapi shot thick columns of ash as high as 9,800 feet on Sunday, blanketing nearby villages and towns. About a dozen rescued climbers were taken to hospitals with serious to minor injuries.
