Monique Farmer, APR Honored with Business Excellence Award

*OMAHA, NE / ACCESSWIRE / November 7, 2023 / *In November 2023, Monique Farmer, APR, president and founder of Avant Solutions, a full-service PR and communications firm, received the Excellence in Small Business Award from Inspire, an Omaha-based organization affiliated with the Omaha World-Herald dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the efforts of inspiring women leaders in the community.

"The program was developed to celebrate extraordinary leaders in our community. It aims to inspire and help emerging leaders and achievers across multiple industries to inspire others," said Ava Thomas, president of Lee Enterprises and founder of the award program.

The public nominated award candidates, and an advisory board of local leaders from various industries voted for five finalists in each of the 10 categories and named the ultimate winners at an awards event.

"It is a true honor to be recognized alongside so many amazing women," said Farmer. "This recognition is not just a celebration of the incredible achievements of women in Omaha, but a testament to the incredible strength and potential we have to inspire and uplift one another."

The Inspire Excellence in Business Award is given to both small and large business leaders. Farmer sees the award and its inspiration as motivation to grow and nurture Avant Solutions.

In addition to leading Avant Solutions, Farmer is the CEO and Founder of Anvil Ready, a digital project management and strategy platform for PR professionals. She is a new author, with her first book, "Chart Your Path," set to publish in Spring 2024.

Farmer helps mentor young professionals as an adjunct professor and gives back to the community as a volunteer for several nonprofit Boards of Directors, including the Public Relations Society of Nebraska Chapter, where she serves as President.

Her work has garnered invitations to speak at the Ragan Communications Crisis Conference and PRSA's International Conference. She previously served in a Public Affairs Officer role for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and has also worked in Corporate Communications for ConAgra Foods (now ConAgra Brands), leading Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs Communication, including global food recall notifications, Supply Chain Communication, and global employee volunteerism. She served as the Director of Communications for Nebraska's largest school district for four years, then transitioned into a Professor of Practice role teaching Advertising and Public Relations for the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She currently leads Avant Solutions and teaches part-time for the University of Texas at Austin.
