(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW YORK, June 7 (KUNA) -- The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland urged all parties to stop unilateral and provocative actions that threaten the already "fragile" ceasefire between Israel and Palestinians."I urge both sides to refrain from unilateral steps and provocations, exercise restraint and allow for the necessary work to solidify the ceasefire," Wennnesland tweeted.The ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas on May 21 after 11-day war that left hundreds of Palestinians and ten Israelis dead.He warned that the current the cessation of hostilities is fragile and demanded more efforts to keep it.Early this month, the UN official visited Israel and Gaza Strip to discuss reinforcing fragile cessation of hostilities.After his visits, he stated that it is crucial to maintain calm and address urgent humanitarian needs and reconstruction efforts.Wennesland expressed UN's commitment and readiness to continue its engagement with all relevant sides to chart the political way forward.
