Every year, Ganesh Utsav or Ganeshotsav starts with great pomp and show on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadra month. Lord Ganesha's birthday is celebrated with great zeal and this year it is being celebrated on 19th September. The ten-day Ganesh Utsav begins from the day of Ganesh Chaturthi and ends on Anant Chaturdashi. Ganesh Chaturthi is the first day of celebration on which people welcome Lord Ganesha to their homes, and make a variety of foods to offer to the god.
