Controversial Calcutta high court judge to quit, may join BJP

Calcutta High Court Judge Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, previously involved in a courtroom spat where the state's advocate general claimed he would receive a BJP ticket for the Lok Sabha election, has announced his resignation from the judiciary to enter politics. Due to retire officially in August, he expressed a desire to combat corruption on a broader platform.
