Uddhav group moves SC seeking to quash Maharashtra speaker’s orders

The political dispute over control of Shiv Sena between Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde reached Supreme Court. Sena (UBT) faction sought quashing of assembly speaker's orders recognizing Shinde faction as the real Sena. They accused the speaker of acting unconstitutionally and violating the apex court's judgment on anti-defection law. “The speaker arrived at erroneous conclusions as he undertook a complete colourable exercise of power based on extraneous and irrelevant considerations,” the Thackeray group said.
