Covid: First case of JN.1 variant in Delhi

New Delhi reports first case of JN.1, a sub variant of Omicron, confirmed through genome sequencing. The patient, a 52-year-old woman, recovered completely and was discharged from ILBS hospital. The city currently has 30 active cases with a Covid positivity rate of around 1%. At least 400 RT-PCR tests are conducted daily. AIIMS has designated cubicles in C6 ward for seriously ill Covid patients. The JN.1 variant causes mild illness, but precautions should be taken by the susceptible population to prevent spread of this virus.
