Madhavi, the mother of TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan, expressed relief that the killers have been sentenced to life imprisonment as it serves as a deterrent to others. However, she clarified that she is not happy because it cannot bring back her daughter. Madhavi's hope is that she will not have to go through any similar experiences in the future. She stated that death is an easy way out and that she wanted the killers to suffer like her family is suffering. HGS Dhaliwal, the special commissioner of police, said that justice has finally been served after a prolonged trial.
